"ACM Recycles" is a new program starting this year at the University of Florida. Our Mission Our mission is to provide recycled personal computers and peripherals to those in need within our local community.
Our Recent Donations! The Library Partnership of Gainesville, FL
With Your Help ACM accepts computers and computer related hardware in almost any condition. We accept the following peripherals: personal printers, digital cameras, scanners, faxes, routers, keyboards, mice, monitors, USB devices, and potentially other devices on a case by case basis. Loose hardware, such as RAM and hard drives are also accepted. After receiving this material, volunteer students from ACM will perform all labor to restore the computers or devices to working condition.
What Happens Next?Once the computers or devices have been restored, a new home will be found through local community outlets including the St. Francis House, United Way, and Alachua FreeNet Recycling Program. The goal of this program is to aquire and refurbish computers and devices. Currently, we do not have the resources to accept individual requests for the items. Instead, the items will be provided to the forementioned organizations, who will be responsible for identifying the ideal recipients in the local community.
How To Get InvolvedBy mid-September, we will have a form available to submit by donors. Once the information is received, we will contact you to schedule a drop-off. This will take place on campus at the University of Florida, near the Computer Science Engineering Building. The drop-off location is the CSE Building (0042) on Newell Dr. Please use the Campus Map to locate the CSE building.
Other DonationsMonetary donations are also encouraged! Many of the computers and devices we receive will need upgrades or additional hardware to revitalize them, including:
All donated money will be used for this program only. Checks can be made to the Computer Science Department and mailed to: Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)
